Some excellent sources of reference material, modelling friendship and inspiration exist on the internet; these are a few of my favourites.
- Hyperscale Perhaps the most well-known of the scale modelling ‘webzines’, an excellent source of information. Reviews, reference info and a very active discussion board.
- Hazer’s Flightline The emphasis here is on good shots of Canadian aircraft but there are some USAF subjects too. If you like T-33s and CF-18s, stop by here.
- Large Scale Planes As its name suggests a web-site devoted to large scale modelling. Galleries, reviews, discussion board and more.
- IPMS Stockholm One of the best IPMS sites I’ve seen, well designed and lots of useful stuff. Emphasis is, not surprisingly, on Swedish subjects…
- Studio Marseille Tom Holland and I share similar modelling tastes. His online gallery features numerous beautifully finished 1/72 aircraft (many from older kits), including many small air forces types.
- Aircraft Resource CenterAnother fine webzine, besides the gallery and discussion boards there are some invaluable aircraft walkarounds.
- Modeling Madness Check this site before you buy/build a kit! Another full-featured webzine with the emphasis on kit reviews/previews.
- The Unofficial Airfix Modellers Forum UK based website catering to enthusiasts of british ‘classic kits’ – Airfix, Frog and Matchbox especially.
- Mike Grant’s ModelPix A totally self-indulgent exercise in which I get to post pictures of my completed models. There’s a picture of my workbench too, photographed on the one occasion that the table top was visible.
